Jewellery Care

CARE & CLEANING

  • Your jewellery doesn't like being in water, so remove before showering or swimming.

  • Keep away from harsh chemicals such as bleach and abrasive cleaning products.

  • Avoid contact with perfume, hairspray, hand cream and body lotions.

  • It is advisable to remove jewellery when carrying out certain activities such as cleaning, gardening, playing sports or exercising.

  • When your jewellery is not being worn, it should be stored in a cool dry and airtight place, keeping individual pieces separate to avoid scratching.

SILVER

  • Sterling Silver can easily tarnish if not being worn regularly, and should be stored away from moisture and oxygen.

  • To clean, rinse in warm soapy water and dry with a soft cloth.

  • For matt, brushed silver surfaces - use a Scotch-Brite pad (like the one used to scrub pots and pans) to gently rub the surface of your matte-finished jewellery, being careful to avoid stones.

  • For shiny, polished finishes - gently rub with a polishing cloth.

OXIDISED SILVER

  • Has been treated to give the surface a black finish. As such it does not need cleaning in the same way normal silver does, but should you need to, clean in warm soapy water and gently dry with a soft cloth.

  • Silver dips, cleaning foams and polishing compounds will strip the finish, so are best avoided.

  • Please be aware that the black oxidised patina may wear over time.

KEUM BOO

  • An ancient Korean gilding technique that permanently fuses pure gold foil to silver.

  • Although the gold is thicker and significantly more durable than plating, it is advisable to treat Keum boo surfaces with care to avoid scratching the finish.

  • Gently rub with with a polishing cloth only.

GEMSTONES

  • Require special care, so be gentle while wearing your jewels. They are strong and durable, but can be damaged if treated roughly.

  • Exercise caution when using liquid cleaning solutions, as this can damage delicate stones.

  • Organic or porous materials such as amber, coral, turquoise or pearls, are vulnerable to acids and alkalis so avoid contact with cosmetics. Wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth before storing. NEVER immerse these in liquid cleaning solutions.

MURANO GLASS

  • Each of our Murano glass beads are individually handmade works of art created exclusively for us in Venice by a small family run workshop.

  • No two beads are ever alike and slight variation in design and patterns will occur.

  • Tiny air bubbles in the glass are not flaws, but seen as part of the natural beauty of and process of artisan crafted glass.

  • Exposed gold foil is subject to wear over time, this is not a defect, but lends a nice patina to the piece.

  • Please wear with care - glass can be a fragile material.

  • Clean with a soft dry lint free cloth if needed,  a polishing cloth should be used to freshen up the metal components.

  • Do NOT immerse your Murano glass pieces in liquid cleaning solutions, such as silver dip.

POLYMER CLAY

  • While polymer elements are generally durable and will sustain most normal wear, it does have the potential to scratch.

  • Items should be stored out of direct sunlight.

  • Wipe polymer elements over with warm soapy water and buff with a lint-free cloth if needed.

  • A polishing cloth may be used to freshen up and polish metal components only.

  • Do NOT immerse your polymer jewels in liquid cleaning solutions, such as silver dip.
